It’s great you guys are coming to Brighton, it is indeed a great place for vegans.
My absolute favourite places to eat are WaiKikaMooKau (the sweet potato & soya burger’s delicious) & Aloka (they have a fantastic dessert cabinet!) but I also love the Infinity Foods cafe, especially their vegan breakfast, and Iydea which has a great buffet & nice cake. If you’re here on a Sunday there’s a pub just behind the station called The West Hill which does a traditional vegan Sunday roast with a yorkshire pudding which is something you won’t find anywhere else in the UK. There’s also a Cornish Pasty shop on Gardner Street called I’s Pies who make vegan pasties & sausage rolls.
The best place for food shopping is Infinity Foods, they’re an all vegetarian co-op & they sell loads of great vegan products as well as organic fruit & veggies, freshly baked bread & vegan scones. There is also an Indian grocery store called Taj, it’s on Western Road & they sell a lot of vegan food. As for normal supermarkets Waitrose, Sainsburys & The Co-Op also sell a lot of good vegan stuff (soya milk, soya yoghurts, HobNob biscuits, bread…the co-op even do vegan fizzy strawberry laces, Waitrose have vegan Millionaires Shortbread & Sainsburys make vegan crumpets & tea cakes). Sainsburys & The Co-Op even write vegan on their labels.
There’s a huge second hand store on Kensington Gardens in the middle of the North Laines called Snoopers Paradise and on Saturdays there’s an outdoor market on Upper Gardner Street. There are a few stores on Sydney Street that sell second hand clothes too.
As for where to stay there’s a nice hostel called The Grapevine in the centre of town, from what I’ve heard their North Laine location is better than their Seafront location and Brighton also has a vegetarian hotel called Paskins Town House.
I hope all of that helps you plan your trip & feel free to e-mail me with any more questions you have,
Vi bokade biljetter till London igår! Längtar typ!
